Theory and Definition Alternative Holistic Dentistry ... Non-Invasive, Painless, Nutritional

Warning: Always consult a qualified health care provider and nutritionist to help you evaluate different theories, formulas and alternatives to traditional dental methods. Although some methods work well for some people, they may not be suitable or applicable to your dental problem or your specific life style. There are numerous environmental and physical conditions that effect tooth decay, oral health and efficacy of treatments. Among them are diet, water, general physical health, , methodology and application of dental treatment, exercise and even air quality.

Alternative Dentistry also known as Holistic Dentistry is still a new science and is for the most part not completely defined. One of the reasons is that it is not taught in universities or a standardized practice of the American Dental Association.

Alternative Holistic Dentistry, what could be considered a branch of alternative dentistry is also for the most part undefined.  Alternative holistic dentistry, as defined here, aspires to the development of completely non-toxic, nutritional mouthwashes to heal cavities and resolve oral problems such as gingivitis and periodontal diseases.  Alternative holistic dentistry focuses on solutions to the cause of dental problems such as

  1. Mineral deficient diets
  2. Bacterial imbalances in the mouth
  3. Poor posture
  4. Stress
  5. Less than optimized dental hygiene procedures
  6. Imbalanced Mouth PH

Alternative Holistic Dentistry, like traditional dentistry, focuses on preventive dentistry and providing painless, safe and non-invasive dental treatment procedures. In alternative dentistry there are no drills, needles, or surgical knives.

In Alternative Holistic Dentistry the main treatment and preventive procedures are built on  a standardized list of minerals, vitamins and proteins and common sense life style habits.  Central to alternative dentistry is the use of mouthwashes that have high mineral and oil content.

Proposed Procedures for Treatment of Cavities, Gingivitis, and Periodontal Disease

  1. Daily and frequent mouthwash rinses with high mineral contents of silica, zinc, magnesium,           molybdenum with oil bases of coconut oil, rice bran oil and other oils
  2. Brushing with high-performance Sonic brushes
  3. Non-Sugar Diet
  4. Drinking and rinsing with mineral water with a high mineral content on a daily basis
  5. Posture strengthening exercises and jaw alignment exercises
  6. Elimination of carrying backpacks on a daily basis
  7. Balanced Diet with a high omega 3 to omega 6 ratio

Non-Toxic Elements of Alternative Holistic Dentistry

Another difference between alternative dentistry and traditional dentistry is that it  does not use chemicals and inorganic compounds that have any significant toxic levels. The most toxic chemical elements are the halogens. The means in true Alternative Holistic Dentistry you won’t find solutions or treatments that are based on

Fluorine (Fluoride)
Chlorine (Chloride)
Bromine (Bromide)

Fluoride has become more controversial over the years. Although it has been shown to protect against tooth decay, it is toxic and it is the most toxic of the halogens. Some advocate adding magnesium to the water supply instead of fluoride. And one reason is that magnesium is non-toxic. In fact, magnesium is a necessary nutrient in which many Americans are deficient in.
